General Council
The General Council is a representative, consultative and accountability platform of the organisation that consists of representatives of members of the BVTA seconded through Ward Committees. The General Council convenes an Annual General Meeting once a year to review, reflect and celebrate the work done by the organisation in the preceding period, discuss key issues and make resolutions for the pro-ceeding period. The AGM also elects the Executive Committee of the General Council empowered to assume the roles of the GC in between AGMs. The AGM also confirms new Board Members nominated by the Board of Trustees from time to time.
Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is the principal policy and decision-making body of BVTA. It administers the organisation in trust on behalf of the members. The Board of Trustees also plays a custodial role providing oversight on the organisation and playing an advisory role to the General Council. The Board is responsible for the overall leadership and governance of the organisation at a strategic level. The Board of Trustees consists of founder members and other members appointed on merit of their commitment, expertise, knowledge and experience in various portfolios relevant to BVTA.
Secretariat
The secretariat is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the organisation including operational and administrative functions in pursuance of the objectives of BVTA. The secretariat consists of full time staff of the organisation headed by the Director appointed by the Board. The Director is the Chief Accounting Officer of the organisation and serves as administrative secretary the Board. He/she is empowered to make operation decisions in pursuit of the Board Resolutions as guided by the General Council Resolutions.
