Yesterday Bulawayo Vendors and Traders Association (BVTA) partnered with Victory Siyanqoba in a mobile awareness campaign at Cowdray Park and Nkulumane Sekusile to engage informal traders on COVID-19 protocols.
The mobile awareness campaign focused on educating informal traders on the importance of adhering to COVID-19 protocols. Mobile awareness has proved to be an active and best way of reaching different communities and markets during the national lockdown.
Some members from Victory Siyanqoba who are known as Community Messengers encouraged vendors and informal traders to keep their market places clean and follow the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines as a way to curb the spread of the virus.
The community messengers further said that informal traders should protect themselves and their children from the deadly virus and to make sure that they practice social distancing and sanitize every customer. Community messengers encouraged the traders to practice the endorsed COVID-19 regulations.
BVTA has been working on addressing COVID-19 awareness to vendors and informal traders. It also provides important information on COVID-19. BVTA Market Bailiffs who monitor COVID-19 compliance have been going around in different markets in Bulawayo, raising awareness on COVID-19 and making sure that safety precautions are taken in the informal sector markets.
BVTA continues to educate vendors and informal traders on the importance of curbing the spread of the virus.
