The Bulawayo Informal Sector Working Group last week (17 – 18 November, 2021) held an Informal Economy Enhancement strategy at Hwange Safari Lodge, which aimed at bringing together members of the working group and council officials and aligning informal trading activities in coming up with a strategic plan of the city that ensure that all stakeholders speak with one voice on informal trading issues.
The BISWG comprises of Informal Economy Association in Bulawayo which include, Bulawayo Upcoming Traders Association (BUTA), Simunye informal Traders, Highlanders Informal Traders Association, Shasha/Malaleni Informal Traders, Site 5 Traders, Bulawayo City of Kings Informal Traders (BCKVA), Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprise, Street Wise Informal Traders and Bulawayo City Council (BCC).
